Came for college at the University of South Florida. Go BULLS! Stayed because I fell in love......with Tampa :)
How long have you lived here?
4 1/2 years
What neighborhood do you live in, why did you choose it and what do you like about it?
South Tampa/ Hyde Park is where I call home, for now. Moving close to downtown- where the action is- is important to me as I am constantly in motion with professional and personal interests. Hyde Park is quaint, cute, fun, tasteful and just my style! I can walk to Chipotle, rollerblade on Bayshore, shop in style at boutiques, eat with friends at unique dining, feel safe, drive 2 miles to the hub of downtown and 20 minutes to glorious beaches and parks.
If you were to move to a different neighborhood, what would it be and why?
Davis Island...similar setting, great food, surrounded by water, 97 West, cute houses!
What is your favorite thing about Tampa?
Being so close to the water, but being in a growing city with lots to do like sports, cultural attractions, great charities and causes, networking events, etc.
What kinds of things are you involved in?
EMERGE Tampa Bay, 97 West, PRSA Tampa Bay, South Tampa Fellowship, Friends of St. Jude, Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce, Friends of the Riverwalk, EWomen Network, Child Abuse Council volunteer, Meals on Wheels volunteer
Tell us about what you do.
Director of Marketing and Communications at the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay, which brings help, hope and healing to people facing serious life challenges. I wake up every day with a mission to bring awareness and positive change to the world I live in! I LOVE my job :)
If you live in Tampa, Why do you stay?
friends, weather, ocean, passions
Where else have you lived?
Born in St. Louis, Missouri. To Florida. Back to Missouri. Mississippi and Memphis, Tennessee. Atlanta (more specifically Gwinnett and Fulton County) for most of my life and high school. Then, TAMPA!
What kinds of things are you interested in seeing on Brand Tampa?
causes, calls to action for issues affecting Tampa
Hello Carissa! Ok Twitter, the Tweet up and Now Brand Tampa lol. Julia got me to join and I'm glad I did. There are some seriously cool people in Brand Tampa.
Hi Carissa!
I am so happy to connect with you.
I wanted to ask you about your networking groups in Tampa, I am interested in the e-women one and also the Tampa Chamber.
Do you have any advice or recommendations?
I have an ad agency in the Palm Harbor are, and am also an artist.
Those violinists you were talking about were outside of Brandon Mall last night. They are only 16...very talented I bought their single. You should check out Miri Ben Ari she performed in Tampa w/ the Roots a while back. It was a good show.
Yes, I did come to the Crisis Center with Skirt! - It's good to connect again :)

Thanks! It never ceases to amaze me...there are Shriners Hospitals stories everywhere! I was recently in Las Vegas and a contract PR person for our golf tournament told me her sister was a patient for many years. Talk to you soon. Are you part of #journchat on twitter? It's Monday nights from 8-11.
