I moved here for a job, and to experience life in the Southeast.
How long have you lived here?
1 year
What neighborhood do you live in, why did you choose it and what do you like about it?
I live in Northeast Tampa, to be close to my work (at the University). It's convenient, of course, and I'm still finding my way around, so it's hard to talk about likes and dislikes just yet.
If you were to move to a different neighborhood, what would it be and why?
I'm very impressed by Ybor City and the waterfront area downtown, or at least by the potential I see there.
What is your favorite thing about Tampa?
Lizards. I'm a big fan of lizards.
What kinds of things are you involved in?
Arts and culture. I like films, music, plays, dance. Contemporary opera is becoming a passion.
Tell us about what you do.
I'm working in arts marketing and communications.
If you live in Tampa, Why do you stay?
Work, still like the place, interested to see what develops here.
Where else have you lived?
Santa Cruz, San Diego, Sacramento, Seattle, Seoul, Los Angeles, Manhattan, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Tucson.
What kinds of things are you interested in seeing on Brand Tampa?
Anything and everything related to community engagement.

Hey, just noticed your comment -- thanks! Yeah, we are the only general bookstore, new or used, in the University area. Just Books on Fletcher closed up shop shortly before we opened (part of the reason for our opening). They had been there for a couple decades. With USF being such a large school, it is strange that there aren't more bookstores. However -- and I say this as a USF alumn -- the 'average' USF student isn't exactly a big reader, textbooks aside. Oh well. :)

Hi Ron,
I think what happened at TBCN is that they lost funding from the county, but (as far as I know) they still receive funding from the city. (Thus the services and classes they offer, as well as their TV programming, are only available to residents of the city of Tampa, but not to anyone else in Hillsborough County.)
I haven't volunteered with TBCN in about a year - actually I just got a call from them to put in some hours so not to lose my "membership."
I can send you some TBCN contacts for more info if you like.
The Project 3.0 show revolves around the zero energy conversion of the old Tampa Brew Co. building in Ybor City from a bare shell and documents the unfolding of a new business paradigm from the ground up.
