USF's School of Theatre & Dance presents Kate Fodor’s 100 Saints You Should Know, in the Southeast premiere of this “play about human longing.” Developed at the Steppenwolf Theater Company of Chicago and given its world premiere production at New York’s Playwrights Horizons in 2007, this poignant, sometimes humorous, look at five very different people grappling with questions of faith, meaning and desire provides a potent vehicle for an intrepid company of student actors. The play contains adult themes, language and nudity. Performances are Nov. 12-14 and 18-21 at 8pm, with 3pm matinees on Nov. 15 and 22. Tickets and information may be found at the College of The Arts box office by calling 813-974-2323 or online at www.arts.usf.edu.
There will be two opportunities for audience members to speak with artists involved in the production. A talkback with the actors and director Kerry Glamsch will follow the Nov. 14 performance, while on Nov. 19, the playwright will attend the performance and anchor a question and answer session following the show. Her take on the work is simple: “The play is really about two people: a priest and the woman who cleans the rectory...and her journey toward faith and his away from it.”
